Reverend Jack Church

Reverend Jack Densil Church was born the son of the late Sally Johnson and E. Luiacoe Church, on October 13, 1933, and passed away on April 6, 2025, at the age of 91.

He was a graduate of Fruitland Bible Institute and Southeastern Theological Seminary. He was the former pastor of Elk Creek Baptist, Temple Baptist, Lakeview Baptist, Mt. Adar in Mebane, NC, Mt. Vernon Baptist in Hope Mills, NC, founded First United Baptist Church in Hope Mills, NC.

Upon retirement, he founded a food ministry in Hope Mills then started one in Lenoir, NC. He did his interim pastoring at Indian Hills Baptist, Sandy Flat Baptist in Blowing Rock and Green Mountain Park Campground ministry.

Reverend Jack is survived by his wife of 71 years, Sylvia Jean Greer, daughter, Sandra Church Justice Goodman; son, Steven David Church; brother, Ralph Edward Church; sister-in-law, Linda Church Story.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Jessie Ray Church.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 1:00 – PM to 2:00 PM at Whitnel First Baptist. A service to celebrate the life of Reverend Jack Church on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Whitnel First Baptist with Pastor Stuart White and James C. Cain, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Worship Point Baptist Church Cemetery.
