Hudson – Jake Dean Fletcher, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Caldwell Hospice. He was born in Watauga County on January 6, 1933 to the late Will Fletcher and Myrtle Mast Fletcher. He was married to Hilda Dishman Fletcher of the residence for 65 years. Jake was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Fletcher Sunoco in Hudson for more than 30 years.Jake was very well respected by the community and was considered to be a fair and honest man. He focused more on helping people than making money and he loved his family and was a great provider. Jake was an active member of Sunrise Baptist Church since 1967. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jeremy Fletcher; three sisters and two brothers. Other than his wife, Jake is survived by his children, Tim Fletcher wife, Layla; Lisa Fletcher; grandsons, Bradley Hughes and wife, Alycia; Joe Fletcher; granddaughter, Holly Lance and husband, Tyler; great-grandchildren, Anna Hughes, Preston Hughes and Ivy Lance; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Jake’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Ed Warren and Pastor Holly Adams officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be Tyler Lance, Bradley Hughes, Randy Justice, Marty Hughes, Jesse Barber, R.B. Byerly and Keith Warren. Joe Fletcher will serve as honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 prior to the service.
