James William “Jim” Crisp, 69, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Hibriten Mountain Rehab & Nursing Facility in Lenoir, NC.
Jim was born December 13, 1955, to the late James Todd Crisp and Helen Coulter Crisp.
Jim is survived by his sister, Mary Franklin “Frankie” Crisp, currently a resident of Silas Creek Parkway Rehab Facility in Winston Salem, NC.
Jim graduated from St. Stephens High School in Catawba county. Although Jim was born with a spinal malfunction called Spina Bifida, he chose to be as independent as possible; playing basketball from a wheelchair, and attending several gyms for exercise to improve his physical abilities. He worked for a telephone answering service and a sporting goods store. A very outgoing person, Jim always tried to show friendship to others to reduce their anxiety around a handicap person.
Jim was a very active member of Lenoir Community Church for many years. He loved being an active member of the Southern Aires Gospel Choir, was a part of the Praise team, worked with the children and recently participated in the “The Witness” play performed at the Broyhill Civic Center.
Many friends will miss Jim’s constant show of Christian faith and willingness to share his God, Faith, and Love to all he met. He was a blessing to so many.
A service to honor Jimmy’s life will be held on September 6, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Lenoir Community Church with Pastor Stan Barker and Pastor Daniel McGee officiating.
Evans Funeral Service is honored to serve the family of James William Crisp.
