Janet Kay Austin, 76, of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away on August 28, 2026.

Janet was born on March 20, 1950, to the late John and Norma McNeil. Throughout her life, Janet was known and loved by those closest to her as “Jan.”

Jan is preceded in death by her parents, John and Norma McNeil, brothers, Jim McNeil and Dale McNeil; and sister, Dawn Boyd.

Above all, Jan was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cherished member of her family. She leaves behind her only daughter, Beth Austin Eller, and son-in-law, Robert Eller; her beloved grandson, Dylan Eller, who attends Vanderbilt University; and brother-in-law, Ralph Boyd as well as six nieces and other family members and loved ones.

Her family will remember her not simply for the years she lived, but for the place she held in their lives. The love between a mother and daughter, and between a grandmother and her grandson, leaves a mark that time cannot erase. Jan's memory will remain a part of the family she loved and the lives she touched.

She will be deeply loved, greatly missed, and forever remembered.
