Lenoir- Mr. Jay Lee Whittington went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. He was born on November 7, 1955 to the late Ms. Willie Mae Michaux and Charles Beasley of Lenoir. He was a loving, devoted husband, Father, brother, uncle and friend. He attended Hibriten High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was an employee of Fairfield Chair Company, Plant 1, for 25 years. Other than his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ms. Eva Helton and his daughter, Ms. Kendya Bowers. Those to left to cherish his memory is his wife of 42 years, Dorothea Whittington; son, Brooks Bowers; daughters, Billie Jo Saner and Deidra Bowers; grandchildren, Bradley Cash; Khileigh Bowers; Kalen Bowers; Whitney Simon II and Kaybree Hill; sisters, Eva Walker and husband, Ronald; Tonya Michaux ; Wendy Low and husband, David; brothers, Robert Michaux and wife, Drucilla; Mike Michaux and wife, Laura; Jerome Michaux; Albert Michaux; and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends. A celebration of Mr. Whittington’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 1:00 PM with Bishop Michael Sloan and Pastor Darlene Stokes officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 prior to the service.
