Jerry Lee Bumgarner, 70, of Lenoir, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, at Caldwell Hospice in Lenoir. Arrangements are as follows: Receiving will be Saturday Sept.24, 2016 from 11:30-1:00 pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with the funeral to follow at 1:00pm. The burial service will be Monday, Sept.26th at 2:00pm at the Western Carolina State Veterans Memorial 962 Old Hwy. 70, Black Mountain NC. He is survived by his wife Shirley Hollar Bumgarner. He was born March 26, 1946 to the late Lonnie and Mattie Wilson Bumgarner. He was a retiree of Lenoir Fire Department and a veteran of the US Army. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers and one grandson. Surviving are 3 children, Patricia Frady of Granite Falls, Gregory Johnston and wife, Connie Johnston of Hudson, Cindy Smith and husband, Keith Smith of Baton. He has 9 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren. He is also survived by 4 sisters, Betty Crouch of Taylorsville, Peggy Reitzel of Arizona, Mary Johnson from Hildebran, Dianne and husband David Johnson from Conover; and one brother Rev. Clyde Bumgarner and wife Gail Bumgarner of Granite Falls. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
