Jerry Lee Wood

Mr. Jerry Lee Wood, age 72, of Hudson passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Caldwell UNC Healthcare. Born January 15, 1946 in Caldwell County, Jerry was a son of Hazel Greene Wood and the late Allie Lee Wood.He was a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church.He had worked for many years in the furniture industry as a supervisor in the refinishing department.His two favorite things in life were racing and his wife.He was affiliated with G & G Motorsports and close friends with Dennis Setzer, Dexter Canipe and Dwight Huffman.He will be remembered by his racing family for saying “I can see Nashville from Greenville”.In addition to his father, he is also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ann Wood. Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife of 54 years, Janice Curtis Wood of the Home; two sons, Jerry Allen Wood (girlfriend Gina Phillips) of Charlotte and Jason Aaron Wood (fiancé Amanda Ledford) of Granite Falls; two sisters, Linda Stevens and Tammy Hutchinson; his two grandchildren who were very special to him, Dylon Wood and Nathan Wood; he is also survived by numerous other relatives. A memorial service celebrating Jerry’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Rev. Lloyd Jones officiating.
