John Carroll Greer

Hickory, NC – Mr. John Carroll (J.C.) Greer, age 77, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Mr. Greer was born in Caldwell County on October 12, 1934 to the late Albert Greer and Pearl Minton Greer. He was married to Patricia Kiser Greer of the home. Mr. Greer was fondly called “Poppy” by his grandchildren. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles Eddy; daughter, Stacy Greer; brother, James, and a granddaughter. Other than his wife, he is survived by his children, Carroll, Cindy, Tim, Jayson, Michael, Josh, Dawn, Melissa; three sisters; two brothers; 23 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A celebration of Mr. Greer’s life will be held at Whitnel Pentecostal Holiness Church on January 23, 2012 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Keith Gilliam officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service with military honors. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 prior to the service.
