John David Dula, known to family and friends as David, passed away on June 13, 2026, at the age of 67. He was born on November 5, 1958, to the late John and Retha Dula, in Lenoir where he spent much of his life and built lasting friendships and memories.
David was the owner of David’s Septic tank and David’s Sanitation for over 35 years and was currently employed with Marine Construction of Hickory.
David was widely known and respected as one of the finest motocross racers of his time. Throughout his racing career, he earned numerous titles and championships, leaving a mark on the sport and inspiring many riders who followed in his footsteps. His passion, determination, and competitive spirit made him a standout both on and off the track.
Above all else, David loved his family. His pride and joy were his children, whom he loved deeply and unconditionally.
He is survived by his three daughters and one son: Gina Dula-Lail and husband Jeff, Shaina Thomas and husband Lonnie, Paige South and husband Cody, and Creed Davidson Dula, with whom he shared an extraordinary father-son bond built on love, respect, and countless cherished memories; six beloved grandchildren, Kirstin, Bergin, Olivia, Haley, Gavin, and Paisley; and one great-granddaughter, Bexley
He is also survived by his sisters Diane West and husband Richard, and Glenda Dula; Three nieces and one nephew; and a special love for his niece by marriage, Angela, who cared for him the last few years that he loved very much.
David will be remembered for his love of racing, his devotion to his family, his strong spirit, and the many memories he created with those who knew and loved him. Though he is gone from our sight, his legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren, family and friends and the motocross community that admired him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
