Lenoir, NC- Mr. John Thompson Parlier, Sr., age 80, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2012 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care. Mr. Parlier was born in Iredell County on October 4, 1931 to the late Clarence C. Parlier and Hazel Shuford Parlier. He was married to Mavis Smith Parlier of the home for 55 years. Mr. Parlier was a graduate of Kings Creek School, a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Lower Creek Baptist Church, Hibriten Masonic Lodge and the American Legion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Helms and Mary Price. Other than his wife, he is survived by his son, John Thompson Parlier, Jr.; sister, JoAnne Moore and husband Curtis; brother, Charles Parlier and wife, Margaret; brother, Thomas Parlier and wife, Beverly of Rosman, NC; sister-in-law, Marjorie Smith Holmes; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Athea. A graveside service will be held at the Lower Creek Baptist Church Cemetery on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 1:30 with Pastor Todd Braswell officiating. Military honors and Masonic rites will be presented. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service from 12:00 until 1:00 prior to the graveside service.
