John Bascom Smith

Lenoir NC- Mr. John Bascom Smith III, age 46, of Lenoir, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory. Born May 4, 1966, in Caldwell County, John was the son of John Bascom Smith, Jr. and the late Helen Adkins Smith. John loved antique cars and attending local car rallys. He worked a number of years at the Bernhardt Furniture Company and he was currently employed with Williams Material Inc. in Lenior. He loved spending time with his two faithful dogs, Knocker and Weezer. In addition to his father, he is survived by two sisters, Tammy Townsend and husband Glen of Lenoir and Beverly Brooks and husband Joseph of Hickory. A celebration of John’s life will be held Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Minister John Mayo officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645 or to the Lenoir Church of Christ, for the Helen Smith Gardens-Cemetery Fund, 1126 NE Powell Road, Lenoir, NC 28645. Donations can be made in memory of John’s loving mother, Helen Adkins Smith.
