Johnsie Duncan Goforth

Johnsie Goforth Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Johnsie Melba Duncan Goforth, age 95 passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Caldwell Hospice. She was born in Caldwell County on October 14, 1918 to the late George Thomas Duncan and Cornelia Turnmire Duncan. She was married to the late Vernon Woodrow Goforth. Mrs. Goforth was a former resident of Lenoir Park and Carolina Rehab where she made many friends at both places. She retired from Caldwell Memorial Hospital and was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church. Mrs. Goforth enjoyed working outside, especially with her flowers, and she also enjoyed playing the piano. She left a wonderful legacy of love and music for her family that has already been passed down through the generations. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, James Thomas Goforth and her brother, Clyde Duncan. She is survived by her children, Pat Enloe and husband, Brent; LaDonna Chandler and husband, Larry; Vernon Eugene Goforth and wife, Deborah; Gaynell McCall and husband, David; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Park on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Roger Beck and Pastor Roger Parker officiating. A memorial service will be held at Meadowbrook Baptist Church on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Roger Beck and Pastor Roger Parker officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Caldwell Hospice, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
