Lenoir – Joseph Donald Littlejohn Sr., age 76, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Burke County on December 10, 1939 to the late W. Lawrence Littlejohn and Neva Leonhardt Littlejohn. Joe was also preceded in death by his son, Joseph Donald Littlejohn, Jr.; his daughter, Lisa Littlejohn Palmer; his brother, William C. “Bill” Littlejohn; and his sister-in-law, Wanda H. Littlejohn. Joe retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation as a truck driver. His family and friends can attest to the fact that Joe spent his retirement years continuing to pursue his life-long passion in recreational use of firearms. Joe was a proud card-carrying member of the NRA and on a local level he was equally proud of his honorary membership in the North Carolina Sheriff’s Association. Those left to carry on his legacy are his brother, Robert “Bob” Littlejohn; sister-in-law, Janet Littlejohn; nephews, Jimmy Littlejohn and wife, Bernetta; Danny Littlejohn; nieces, Susan Davidson and husband, Patrick; Jana Pokorney and husband, Stan; granddaughter, Adrian Palmer and great-granddaughter, Rayla Fortwengler; and other family members.
