Joyce Renee Hendrix

Joyce Renee Hendrix, 77, passed away on October 16, 2026.

Joyce was born on April 22, 1949, to the late Clonnie Richard and Vera Hendrix.

In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her beloved son, Horace Lee Saunders, brother, Gary Carson Hendrix, grandson, Trevor Lee Saunders, best friend, Patricia Wakefield.

Those left to cherish Joyce’s memory are her daughter, Amy Hendrix Haney, son, Kenneth Hendrix (wife Julie), daughter-in-law, Robin Saunders, sister-in-law, Cathie Hendrix, son, Richard Saunders, sister, Marcia Powell; grandchildren, Charles Hendrix (Casey), Noah Haney (Bryanna), Dr. Jordan Reid (Corey), Ashley Simmons (Brandon), Jaziman Hendrix, Carrington Haney (Kendall), and Delaney Parsons; great-grandchildren, Mason and Colson Simmons, Spencer Hendrix; nephew, Chenoa Carson Hendrix, great-niece, Gracie Marie Hendrix; life-long friends, Alan Clay, Floyd Hollars, Linda Steele.

Joyce graduated from Hibriten High School, she attended CCC&TI for the Cosmetology course, Western Piedmont Community College where she received a degree in sign language, Gardner Webb University with a degree in Bachelor of Science. She worked for 59 years, cutting hair and a Counselor for N.C. Vocational Services for Mental Health and Drug Substance Abuse.

Joyce’s hobbies included puzzles, playing cards, going to yard sales, and she loved to HUG everyone. Joyce will be immensely missed.

A Celebration of Life to honor Joyce’s life will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service.

The family respectfully requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Amorem Hospice of Caldwell County.
