Joyce Mae Wallin

Mrs. Joyce Mae Wallin, age 82, of Lenoir, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2013 at the Shaire Center in Lenoir. Born February 23, 1931 in Vernon County, Wisconsin, Joyce was a daughter of the late Ferdinand and Inga Wangen Piepenhagen. She was Baptist by faith and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Joyce was a member of the Red Hat Society and will be remembered for her since of humor. She will also be remembered for her volunteer work at the Shaire Center and the Koinonia apartments. She enjoyed helping with activities and fundraisers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Randy Ray Wallin; four sisters, Lucille Ritter, Lorraine Wallace, Glendora Schlifer and Doris Laird; three brothers, Paul “Bud” Piepenhagen, Ray Piepenhagen and Jack Piepenhagen; and a son in law, Gary Burpo. Survivors include a daughter, Viola Burpo; three sons, Robin Wallin, Rodney Wallin, wife Dianne, and Reggie Wallin, wife Gail; a daughter in law, Linda Wallin; a sister, Fern Traster; a brother, Floyd Piepenhagen; she is also survived by nine grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren , numerous great great grandchildren  and other relatives. A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 4:00 PM at the Bethany Baptist Church with her son, Pastor Reggie Wallin, officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Memorials can be made to the Bethany Baptist Church at 6745 Richlands Road, Lenoir, NC 28645.
