June Barnett

June Trout Barnett, 88, of Taylorsville, North Carolina passed away on May 14, 2021 at Hickory Falls Health & Rehab in Granite Falls. June was born April 8, 1933 to the late George Thomas Trout and Alice Irene McCoy Trout. After two years of college June worked at J.C. Penny Co. She made many flower arrangements while caring for her four children. Not only was she a mother to her children but also a mother to her grandchildren. She had a love for horses and attended horse shows in which her family competed. Her mother was born a McCoy, and she enjoyed telling the history of the Hatfield and McCoy’s; even attending a McCoy reunion. She was a dedicated Christian woman and her favorite sayings were “A Mothers Love Never Dies” and “Happiness is like jam; you can’t spread even a little without getting some on yourself.” She is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Earl Barnett Sr.; and an aunt Juanita Poteet. She is survived by her son, Leonard Barnett Jr. and wife Gloria of Jamestown TN; daughter, Karen Barnett of Fall Branch TN; son, Gregory Barnett and wife Tammy of Mt. Airy NC; daughter, Sharon Barnett of Taylorsville NC; six grandchildren; Lee, Melissa, Beverly, Emily, Mallory, and Eric; seventeen great grandchildren; and cousin Delores Greene of Hendersonville, NC. A graveside service to honor her memory will be held at Shepherd Memorial Park in Hendersonville, North Carolina on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 3:30PM with Rev. Mark Morris officiating. The family will receive friends at Antioch Baptist Church in Taylorsville on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 from 12:00PM to 1:00PM.
