Keith Wilburn Watson

Mr. Keith Wilburn Watson, 84, of Lenoir, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at Caldwell UNC Healthcare in Lenoir on Tuesday, June 8, 2021. He was born on New Year’s Day in 1937 to Loyd Wilburn Watson and MaryLee Chester Watson.He is survived by his wife Virginia (Ginger) Huntley Watson of 61 years; daughters, Kimberly Watson Wright of Lewisville NC and daughter Rebecca (Becky) Watson Clark and husband Daniel of Lenoir, two grandsons, Joshua and Jeremy Wright of Lewisville NC. One step grandson, Chris Clark and wife Nicole; step granddaughter, Allison Clark of Maiden NC; four step great- grandchildren; one sister, Sharon Watson Barlow and husband Harrison of Lenoir; two brothers, Fred Roger Watson of Clyde N C and wife Ruth, Steve Allen Watson of Gastonia and wife Darlene; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister Geraldyne (Jeri) Watson Griffin. Keith started working at Thrift Food Center at age 14.He worked his way from bag boy, cashier to manager. In 1960’s he went to Lenoir Auto Parts and stayed there until Mr Tom Brooks hired him as Parts Manager for Tom Brooks Chevrolet- Buick.Keith worked there for 34 1/2 years.Keith also worked for Keith Keen Towing & Recovery for 12 years as a dispatcher.Loving the auto parts business, he retired from Napa Auto Parts where he worked part time as a parts delivery driver. He loved his Lord and Savior which he is now rejoicing with his parents, sister and other family members. Keith was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lenoir. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army National Guard. A memorial service to honor Keith Wilburn Watson will be held at First United Methodist Church of Lenoir on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Dave Melton officiating. Inurnment will follow the service at the First United Methodist Church Columbarium. The family respectfully requests in lieu of flowers memorials be made out to First United Methodist Church of Lenoir at 309 Church St. NW Lenoir, NC 28645.
