Kenneth Hollars

Mr. Kenneth Leroy Hollars, age 78, of Lenoir passed away on Friday, July 28, 2017 at Caldwell UNC Healthcare. Born July 20, 1939 in Watauga County, Kenneth was a son of the late Vernon and Dora Mae Greene Hollars.He was a veteran of the United States Army.He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.Kenneth enjoyed bee keeping and was an avid hunter and fisherman.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Jean Hollars; a brother, Ermel V. Hollars; and a sister, Lois Hollars Bolick. Survivors include his daughter, Cathy Turner Greene (husband Randall); four sisters, Amy Hollars Fowler, Shirley Hollars Swanson (husband Ralph), Christine Hollars Bolick, and Fannie Hollars Bryant (husband J.R.); three brothers, Elmer Hollars (wife Jean), Henry Hollars (wife Cathy) and Billy Hollars (wife Linda); two grandchildren, Danielle Lynne Hood and Brooklyn Jean Hood; two great grandchildren, Shelby Abagail Stanbury and Liam Turner Faw; he is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A celebration of Kenneth’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 5:00 PM with Reverend Harvey Huntley officiating.Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park with full Military Honors provided by the US National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
