Kenneth Gwyn Patterson, 70, of Lenoir, passed away Thursday January 28, 2021 at Caldwell UNC Health.He was born March 7, 1950 in Caldwell County to the late Kenneth Gwyn Sr. and Marian Priscilla Collett Patterson.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Ronald Patterson and Arthur James Patterson; a sister, Cathy Priscilla Patterson; a nephew, Ronald N. Bowean. Survivors include a sister in law, Irma C. Patterson; two nieces, Nichole Byrd Robinson of Statesville, NC and Lolly Bowean of Chicago, IL; a nephew, Adrian T. Byrd (Tyus) of Jonesboro, AR; four great nieces, Alexia Robinson, Siya Robinson of Statesville, NC, Tylei Byrd and Adri Byrd of Jonesboro, AR; two great nephews, Corwin Byrd of Hickory, NC and Jaquan Byrd of London England; a very special friend, Berry Ronald George of Lenoir, NC. Kenneth loved life.Kenneth was a fourth generation member of St. Paul AME Church.He was actively involved at church where he helped with fundraisers and sang in the choir.His favorite song to sing was “It is well with my soul”.He graduated from NCCU and then from Gallaudet College in Washington. Kenneth became a councilor at the NC School for the Deaf.Toward the end of his career, he also worked for Caldwell Vocational as a rehab technician.Kenneth actively participated in the NC Prison Ministry. He loved family, friends, his two fur babies (Penny and Kiki), Church events, baking cakes, but most of all, he loved the Lord.He was the backbone for the family and always made sure that family was important.He was an outstanding man, brother, uncle and friend. There will be a memorial service at a later time to celebrate Kenneth’s life. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.evansfuneralservice.com.
