Larry Dean Dula went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 12, 2026, surrounded by the compassionate care of hospice at Amorem in Valdese, NC. Born on July 1, 1948, in Caldwell County, NC, Larry lived a life of dedication, honor, and love.
Larry proudly served his country with distinction for 30 years, first spending 3 years in the US Army followed by 27 years in the National Guard. His commitment to service was a testament to his character, leaving behind a legacy of patriotism and perseverance.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ransom Hardin Dula and Gladys Jackson Dula, his brother Randy Ray Dula, and his sister Mary Ruth “Tiny” Dula. He is survived by his devoted wife, Elaine Davis Dula of Lenoir, NC, with whom he shared a remarkable 58 years of marriage. Larry's memory will also be cherished by his loving son, Scott Dula and wife Leslie of Lenoir, NC; his sister, Dee Smithey of Conover, NC; and his cherished nieces, Christy Turner of Lenoir, NC, Denise Sloan of Conover, NC, and Dawn Dula of Lenoir, NC.
Larry's extended family included step-grandchildren who brought great joy to his life: Brandon and Ali Keller of Pennsylvania, Erika Eamer of Lenoir, NC, Kayla Eamer of NY, and Amber and Elliot Brown of Hickory, NC.
A lifelong enthusiast of racing, Larry found joy and fulfillment in the world of drag racing, often sharing this passion with his son. His love for classic cars was well-known, and his 1968 Z/28 Camaro—an eye-catching red with white stripes—was his pride and joy.
A service celebrating Larry's life will be held at Evans Funeral Service on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at 12:00 PM with a receiving of friends at 11:00AM with Pastor Eddie Summerlin officiating. Following the service, Larry will be laid to rest with full military honors provided by the U.S. Army and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir, NC; a fitting tribute to a life of service and valor.

Arrangements are under the care of Evans Funeral Service & Crematory. Larry Dean Dula will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family and country, the warmth of his presence, and the everlasting memories he leaves behind.
