Larry Reitzel Miller

Lenoir, NC – Mr. Larry Reitzel Miller, age 69, of Lenoir, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at the Camelot Manor Nursing Center in Granite Falls. Born February 7, 1943 in Caldwell County, Larry was a son of the late Johnny Reese and Lillie Bradshaw Miller. Larry had worked in the furniture business for many years as a supervisor with the Singer and Bernhardt companies. He was a member of the Covenant Baptist Church. Larry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing golf, attending car shows and collecting coins and sports memorabilia. He will also be remembered as Zero from numerous plays was a part of with his church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Miller and one nephew, Kenneth Miller. The family would like to acknowledge Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care and the Adult Life Programs for all of their support during this time. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Watts “B.J.” Miller of the home; four children, April Welch, husband Tommy, of Cajah’s Mountain, Darla Miller, Fiancé Mark Pennell, of Lenoir, Jimmy Harrison, wife Jenna, of Lenoir, and Michelle Gurley, husband Charlie, of Gamewell; one sister and brother in law, Brenda Boughman, husband Don, of Baton; two brothers and sisters in law, Roy Miller, wife Sue, of Marietta, GA, and Steve Miller, wife Sylvia, of Lenoir; four grandchildren, Thomas Welch, Kaitlyn Gurley, Hailey Gurley and Mark Pennell; Larry is also survived by numerous other relatives. A celebration of Larry’s life will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 12:00 PM at the Covenant Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir. Serving as pallbearers will be Dwight Watts, Jeremy Watts, Jeffrey Watts, Rick McCroskey, Thomas Welch and Mickeal Miller. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Memorials can be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
