Boomer – Lawrence William Auton, age 91, passed away Friday, December 26, 2014 at Caldwell UNC Memorial Hospital. Born March 28, 1923 in Ashe County, he was a son of the late George Washington and Effie Greene Auton and the husband of the late Esther Land Auton. Other than his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Charlie Auton and one sister Conlee Hatton. Lawrence is survived by his four children Stewart Auton and wife Pat of Raleigh; Joyce Walsh and husband Roy of Augusta, GA; Janet Mueller and husband Bert of Taylorsville; Doug Auton and wife Tammie, of San Antonio, TX; and his sister, Paralee Patterson of Morganton, Lawrence has 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Mr. Auton retired from Broyhill Furniture and served in the Army of the World War II. Mr. Auton was a member of Little Rock Baptist Church. A celebration of Lawrence’s life will be held at Little Rock Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 2:00 PM with Reverend Robert Webb officiating.Burial will follow the service at Little Rock Baptist Church at the Livingston Memorial Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 at Evans Funeral Service on Monday, December 29, 2014. Pallbearers will be Mr. Auton’s grandchildren.
