Les C. Sibley, Jr. Lester “Les” C. Sibley, Jr., 79, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 17, 2017. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1960. He worked for Martin-Marietta for four years; afterward he began a career in the Life and Health Insurance business that lasted 38 years. He and his wife retired and moved from Orlando, Florida to Lenoir, NC in 2005. Mr. Sibley was a member of Whitnel Pentecostal Holiness Church. Surviving him are his wife, Sandra Sibley of Lenoir; three daughters, Robyn Curtis (John) of Lenoir, April Skala (Mark) of Jacksonville, NC; Julie Shay (Tim) of Gainesville, FL; brother Ronald Sibley (Dot) of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Amy Johnson; Christy Curtis; Jennifer Arias; Michael Sibley; Katelyn Scala; T.J. Shay; Thomas Shay; and ten great-grandchildren. A memorial service for Les will be held at Whitnel Pentecostal Holiness Church on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 11:00 am with Pastor David Crisp and Pastor Gray Williams officiating. Inurnment will take place at The Western North Carolina Veteran’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Caldwell Hospice, 902 Kirkwood Street Lenoir, NC 28645.
