Lloyd Barlowe

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Lloyd William Barlowe, age 82, of Lenoir passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Caldwell UNC Health Care. Born May 17, 1935 in Caldwell County, Lloyd was a son of the late Boone and Mamie Sherrill Barlowe. Lloyd was a graduate of Oak Hill High School and PGA School. He attended Appalachian State University. Lloyd served in the National Guard and was an Army veteran, serving in Germany. He taught at Hibriten High School. Lloyd was an avid golfer and was inducted into the Hibriten High School Golf Hall of Fame. He was the Golf Pro at Granada Farms Country Club, Cardinal Country Club in Selma, NC and Country Acres Country Club in Lenoir. In addition to his love of Golf, he enjoyed all sports, music, traveling stateside and abroad. He was also an accomplished carpenter and cabinet maker. He was a member of Tabernacle Advent Christian Church where he was active as a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Choir Member, Board of Christian Education, an usher and deacon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jesse White; an identical twin brother, Lawrence B. Barlowe; and a sister, Dot L. Humphries. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Barbara Hensley Barlowe of the Home; two daughters, Tammy Barlowe White and Tonya Barlowe Davis (husband Marc) both of Lenoir; two grandsons, Jeremiah B. White (wife Hannah) of Hurlburt Field, Florida; two great grandchildren, Simon White and River White of Florida; a brother, Bruce Barlowe (wife Joann) of Lenoir; he is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A memorial service celebrating Lloyd’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Tabernacle Advent Christian Church with Pastor Frank Hall officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church.
