Loretta Elaine Pennell Minton

Lenoir- Loretta Elaine Pennell Minton, age 60, of Lenoir, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015.Born October 17, 1954 in Caldwell County, she was a daughter of the late Lynn Pennell and Mrs. Hattie Lorene Johnson Pennell of Lenoir and the wife of David Wayne Minton. Other than her father, a daughter, Tammy Elaine Smith and a brother, Mickey Pennell, precede her in death. Elaine was a member of Mountain Grove Baptist Church where she was saved and baptized by Preacher Clifton Black.A lady with a huge heart, she loved gardening and taking care of her dogs. Surviving other than her husband and mother are her two children, Brian Smith and wife Leslie of Lenoir; Joey Michelle Alvarado of Lenoir; two step-children, Richard Minton and wife Johnna of Granite Falls; Tamara Cook and husband Douglas of Morganton; one sister, Carolyn Townsend and husband James of Dudley Shoals; one brother, Michael Pennell and wife Jeanette of Kings Creek and four grandchildren, Kara, Savanah, Courtney and Landon. A celebration of Elaine’s life will be held 2:00 PM Thursday in Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Clifton Black officiating.Burial will follow in Laurel Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Minton Family to help with final expenses.
