Lorraine Hooper

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lorraine Hooper, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who departed this life on October 18, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on January 20, 1946, in Glasgow, Scotland, Lorraine was the treasured daughter of the late Margaret and Alec Muir.

Lorraine’s journey through life was enriched by her many roles and endeavors. She was a dedicated Sunday School teacher, a passionate Salvation Army Band player, a meticulous bookkeeper, and a skilled loan advisor. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as the owner of the “Abbotswood Inn” Pub in England, where she created a welcoming atmosphere for all who entered.

In addition to her parents, Lorraine is preceded in death by her cherished brother, Billy Muir. She is survived by her loving husband, Frank Walker Hooper, and her devoted children: Angela Fry (Steve), and Mark Ferns from Arkansas, Brian Hooper (Kristi), Daniel Hooper (Somer). Her legacy continues through her adored grandchildren, Malisa Hooper, Malinda Hooper, Jessie Hooper, and Mercedes Setzer, as well as her treasured niece, Karen Muir, from Scotland, mother-in-law as well as friend, Jackie Hooper and numerous loved great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Lorraine retired and embraced a new chapter of her life in the United States, where she spent 21 wonderful years in Lenoir, NC, sharing love and laughter with her family and her beloved dog, Bailey. Known for her kindness and warmth, Lorraine touched the hearts of all who met her and leaves behind a tapestry of cherished memories.

Though she was taken from us too soon, Lorraine's legacy of love and compassion will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed by all.

Evans Funeral Service & Crematory is honored to serve the family during this time. Arrangements for Lorraine Hooper have been entrusted to their care.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Foothills Canine Rescue formerly Pet Partners Rescue of Caldwell County, 220 Joyceton Church Road, Lenoir, NC 28645, in memory of Lorraine.
