Hudson – Luther Charlie Gragg, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 12, 2020 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care. He was born in Caldwell County on April 28, 1933 to the late Sanford and Edna Raby Gragg. Luther was a veteran of the United States Army. Most of his work career was operating his own construction business. He was of Baptist faith and a member of Harris Chapel Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Maggie Soots Gragg; great-granddaughter, Jacquelyn Colvard; brothers, Burl Gragg; O.J. Gragg; Roy Gragg; Sam Gragg; Bill Gragg; and Frank Gragg. Luther is survived by his children, Lisa Colvard and husband, Douglas of Hudson; Keith Gragg and wife, Kimberly of Granite Falls and Michelle Long and husband, Robert of Holly Springs; grandchildren, Joshua Colvard and wife, Lucy; Alicia Colvard Gately and husband, Charles; Trevor Gragg; Carly Gragg and Allison Long; great-grandchildren, Isabelle Colvard; Wyatt Colvard and Josephine Colvard, due in March 2021; sisters, Ruth Smith and Mary Lou Poure; brothers, Fred Robert Gragg and Eddie Gragg. A graveside service celebrating Luther’s life will be held at Harris Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ron Burgett officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
