Lyle Jensen Lyle Donal Jensen, 63, died unexpectedly on Saturday, October 17thwhile at home recovering from recent illness and surgery.Lyle was born in St. Louis, Missouri on October 16, 1952 to Donald and Virginia Jensen. Lyle fiercely loved his family and friends who filled his life with joy: his cherished bride of 35 years, Diana Stamey Jensen; children Douglas Jensen, Joe Jensen of Boone, Amy Jensen Dunlap and husband Lee, and only grandchild, miss Caroline Dunlap.He is also survived by his father Donald Jensen,brother Brent Jensen and wife Allison, along with a nephew Landon.He was preceded in death by his mother Virginia Jensen, and youngest brother Mark.He was also enjoyed the privilege of parenting four foster children: Cindy Greene, Marshia Schutt, Ronnie Schutt, and Donald Herman. His family moved from St. Louis, MO, to Charlotte before settling in Lenoir, NC.He attended Gamewell and Baton Elementary, and Hudson High school, as the class of 1971.He was also a graduate of his beloved North Carolina State University, where he earned degrees in Engineering Operations and Business, graduating in 1976.He was proudly a member of the Hudson High School Band, and the NCSU Marching and Concert Bands, where he played the cornet and euphonium.He joined the family business during summers between semesters in college, and later became the President and co-owner of Western Carolina Electrical Supply Company, of Lenoir and Wilkesboro, where he worked for over 40 years. Lyle rarely met a stranger and throughout his life, surrounded himself with an exceptional group of friends, who he treasured dearly. Lyle was a member of the Lenoir Jaycee’s Club, Lenoir Community Band, and vice-president of the Harper Concert Band.For many years, he was a youth basketball and soccer coach, and a Boy Scout leader.He was an active member of the Foothills Cooperative Parish, and Colliers United Methodist Church where he gladly served as youth leader, Sunday school teacher, Parish Treasurer, and on numerous committees. He mentored young people for the Caldwell County Career Center. He volunteered with the Whitnel Backpack Program, Habitat for Humanity, Whitnel Children’s Christmas Party, Operation Christmas Child, as a tutor for children and youth, and was a supporter of numerous other community endeavors. Lyle was as generous in death as he was in life, as he became an organ and tissue donor. Lyle believed in helping and loving his neighbors. He lived his life without regrets as a son, brother, husband, father, businessman, teacher, role model, Christian, Wolfpacker, and friend.His motto for living life: "The only way for evil to prevail is for good people to do nothing." A service honoring Lyle Jensen will be held at 6:00p.m. on Wednesday, October 21 at Colliers United Methodist Church in Lenoir with Pastor and friend Lori Anne Bowen presiding. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service, from 4:00 to 6:00p.m. in the church sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Colliers United Methodist Youth, at 2625 Clarks Chapel Road, Lenoir, NC 28645, or to the Harper Band at PO Box 390, Lenoir, NC 28645.
