Mable Grimes

Mrs. Mable Lorene Carlton Grimes, age 77, of Lenoir passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at her home. Born May 7, 1940 in Wilkes County, Mable was a daughter of the late Roy and Sophronia Horton Carlton.Mable was a furniture worker for many years.She also enjoyed fishing, reading her Bible and cooking. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gus Grimes; a son, Dallas Jr.; a grandson, Calvin Corpening, Jr.; and two brothers. Survivors include her children, Mary Corpening, Shirley Hayden, Larry Howell, Melvin Howell, Darrell Howell and Margaret Hough; the father of her children, Dallas Howell; she is also survived by four sisters, three brothers, and numerous grandchildren and other relatives. A celebration of Mable’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Pastor Gene Howell officiating.Interment will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial park.
