Madelyn Kaye Mason Blair entered the church triumphant on July 23, 2026.
Kaye was born December 12, 1941, to the late Jack Fred Mason and Frances Luella Mason.
In addition to her parents, Kaye is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, James Edward Blair; son, Christopher James Blair, who passed just 6 days before, sisters, Mary Janet Mason, and Beverly Mason Sipes.
Those left to cherish Kaye’s memory are her son, Jon and wife Melanie Blair and grandchildren, Madelyn (Mads) Blair and Joshua Blair, all of Lenoir. She is also survived by her brother, Jack Mason and wife Debbie of Lenoir, and sister, Sheryl Mason Knupp and husband Steve of Travelers Rest, SC, along with many nieces and nephews that loved her very much.
Kaye was a graduate of Hudson High School and Lenoir Rhyne College. She was a bank teller and executive secretary for Citizens Savings and Loan. She was in the Lenoir Service League and was a sustaining member, having served for 50 years.
Kaye was a devout member of St. Stephen’s of Lenoir, NC. She faithfully served the church for 60 years. She was the acolyte mother, helper with alter guild, planned funeral meals, decorated for special occasions, tidied up inside and out, was a regular circle member and an overall caregiver and servant to many members of the church.
Kaye was devoted to her family in so many ways. She was a caregiver to many members of her family and extended family. She was the matriarch of the family; she was the leader and “glue” of the family. She was the primary caregiver for her son, Chris, his whole life. Chris and Kaye were always together in their dedication and service to the Church and community.
The joint service for Kaye and Chris will be held on Saturday, July 25 at 12:00 p.m. with receiving held prior to the service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Lenoir. The service will be conducted by the Reverend Daniel Duke. Graveside rites will be at Bellview Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, 1406 Harper Avenue, NW Lenoir NC 28645. Online condolences may be sent to the Blair Family at www.evansfuneralservice.com.
