Mrs. Madlene Jewel Watson Land, age 82, of Lenoir, gained her wings. Born March 23, 1943, in Caldwell County to the late Neoma Watson Story and Charlie Story, and the wife of the late David R. Land For 63 years. Other than her husband and her parents. She is preceded in death by her son Harley Land and grandson, Brandon Land, two son-in-law’s, Andy Small, and Greg Beane, two sisters, Mary Chandler, Martha Triplette, two brothers, Wayne and Connard Watson.
Mrs. Land worked her whole life. She retired from Pizza Hut after 37 years. She loved to work in the garden where she canned food and made homemade jelly, apple butter, and chow chow. She was a wonderful wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.
She is survived by her five children, Glenda Beane, Diane Small, David Land, Eddie Land, and wife Angie, John Land and wife Tina, brother, Charlie Watson and wife Joe, sister, Julie Trivette.
She has seven grandchildren, Crystal Small, Brent Small, Danielle Huffman, Tyler Land, Tony Land, Dakota Mullinax, Hannah Brown, six great-grandchildren, Chloe Small, Parker Goins, Dylan Goins, Onikka Beane, Luna Huffman, Lilly Huffman, three great-great grandchildren, Henry Fie, Delilah Fie, and Jamson Small.
A service to celebrate Madlene’s life will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Preacher Johnny McNeil officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel of Evans from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
Serving as pallbearers are Michael Watson, James Watson, Tyler Land, Dylan Goins, Parker Goins, and Brent Small.
