Margaret Loretta Powell

Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Margaret Loretta Adkins Powell, age 84, of Lenoir, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital.Born May 18, 1931 in Wilkes County, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Nellie Hamby Adkins and the wife of Mr. Fred Junior Powell to whom she has shared over 61 years of marriage. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by four sisters, Ann Butler, Helen Smith and two Infants. Mrs. Powell loved her family more than anything.Everything she set out to do, she did well.She never wanted anyone to be hungry or without. Other than her husband Fred, she is survived by three sons, Darrell Powell of Hudson; Gregory Powell of Lenoir; Tim Powell and wife Sharon of Lenoir; two brothers, William Adkins and wife Lucille; Clayton Powell and sister, Betty Carlton and husband Hubert, all of Lenoir; eight grandchildren, Lesley Stamatoukos, Nathan Powell, Brett Wright, Chrissy Powell, Jordan Powell, Hayden Powell, Cora Buff James Richardson and six great-grandchildren, Danielle, Chloe, Izaiah, Eve, Joe and Bradyn. A celebration of Mrs. Powell’s life will be held 2:00 PM Monday, November 2, 2015 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service.Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, one hour prior to the service.
