Mark Alvin Watson Sr., known to everyone as Alvin, 85, of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away surrounded by the love of his family.
Alvin was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grand and great grandfather, and a friend to so many. He was a kind, caring, and compassionate man who was always willing to help anyone who needed him. Whether someone needed a helping hand, something fixed, or simply someone to be there for them, Alvin never hesitated to help. He gave freely of his time and talents and never expected anything in return.
Alvin led by example. He showed his family what it meant to work hard, care for others, and live with kindness and humility. He was the kind of man who didn't need recognition for what he did. Helping others was simply who he was.
Alvin spent his entire career working in the furniture industry. He was a hardworking man who loved working with his hands and could fix or build almost anything. He especially enjoyed spending time with his tractor and could always find something to work on. His ability to figure things out and make things work was one of the many things his family admired about him.
Alvin's greatest joy was his family. He was a loving husband to his wife, Mary Alice Watson, and cherished the time they spent together traveling and making memories. He was a devoted father to his sons, Mark Alvin Watson Jr., Mitchell Aaron Watson, and Marlin Andrew Watson, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. His family meant everything to him, and he made sure they always knew they were loved.
Alvin also treasured his church family at Baton Baptist Church, where his faith and the fellowship of those around him were an important part of his life.
Alvin is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Alice Watson; his sons, Mark Alvin Watson Jr. and wife Belinda, Mitchell Aaron Watson (Michael Summer), and Marlin Andrew Watson and wife Geri; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Alvin will be remembered for his gentle heart, helping hands, strong work ethic, and unwavering love for his family. He was the kind of man who quietly made the lives of those around him better simply by being there.
He never asked for anything in return for all he gave. He simply loved, helped, taught, and led by example.
His family will forever carry the lessons he taught them, the memories they made with him, and the love he gave so freely. Though he will be deeply missed, the life he built and the people he touched will ensure that Alvin's legacy lives on for generations to come.
The family would especially like to thank Angie Brown and Michael Summer, dad’s caregivers, during his final months along with AMOREM hospice. The family would also like to thank those who provided meals to the family during this time.
A loving husband. A devoted father. A proud grandfather. A faithful friend. A man who was always willing to lend a hand.
He was Dad, and he will be loved and missed forever.
