Mary Christine Gragg Coffey, age 93, peacefully passed on to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at her residence. Christine was born in Avery County on April 24, 1932, to her loving parents Roosevelt and Isabell Gragg.
Christine held her family close to her heart, cherishing the memories made with them, her beloved little dog, Kobey, and the countless birds she cared for. Her home was a sanctuary filled with bird feeders, a testament to her love for all of God’s creatures.
A devoted follower of her faith, Christine was a long-time member of Crossroads Community Baptist Church. She embraced her faith passionately, contributing to the church community in numerous ways until her health made it difficult for her to attend regularly.
Christine's life was marked by enduring love and resilience. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husbands, Arvil Gragg, Sr. and George F. Coffey, her beloved children, Arvil Gragg, Jr. and Judy G. Austin, as well as her dear sisters, Kathleen Greene and Justine Gragg, and brothers, Russell Gragg and Ashley Gragg.
Christine leaves behind a legacy of love through her family, survived by her grandchildren, Julie G. Wear, Thomas E. Austin III (Jenny), and Alicia D. Austin, and her cherished great-grandchildren, Ivey Wear, Noah Wear, Caden Austin, Evan Austin, and Lili Levit. She will be dearly missed by her son-in-law, Thomas E. Austin, and daughter-in-law, Brenda Gragg.
A graveside service will be held to celebrate Christine’s remarkable life at the Madison Roosevelt Gragg Cemetery on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 1:00 PM. The service will be officiated by Pastor Rick Bowman, Reverend David Gragg, and Reverend Donald Gragg.
Christine's family is sincerely grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Arrangements have been entrusted to Evans Funeral Service & Crematory, honoring Christine's life and legacy. May she rest in eternal peace.
