Mary Watson

May 26, 2017 — May 26, 2017

Mary Ellen Watson, loving mama, grandma and great-grandma went home to be with the Lord on May 26, 2017. She was born November 19, 1933 to Jessie and Christy Benfield. She was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy, parents Christy and Jessie, brothers Jack and Owen, and sister Ann Lou. She is survived by three loving children – Sherry Watson of Hudson, James Alan Watson of the home, Linda Williams and husband Wade of Raleigh. Survivors also include sister Jean, grand-daughter Jessica Oliver and husband Doug of Hudson, grandson Jacob Avery and wife Leah of Vale, and her four precious great grand-babies Rebekah Ellen, Jacob Jr., Addie Aryah and Hailey Storm. She is survived by other extended family members and her best buddy Mildred with whom she had shared many adventures. Our mom loved children especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She wouldn’t settle in for the night until she knew everyone was safely home. She also cared for many children in the Oak Hill area while their parents worked and they all loved Miss Mary. She loved animals and flowers, and enjoyed working puzzles, watching CNN and going on trips to Nashville and Graceland. We will miss the Monday blue plate specials, Burger King Tuesdays and fudge round snacks that we shared with her. We will also miss the phone conversations, trips to Goodwill and canning green beans. She lived at the Shaire Center for several years following a stroke. She was taken care of by wonderful nurses, CNAs and all the other staff there. We worried about her health, but never about her care – she was treated lovingly there. A funeral service will be held at Bethel Advent Christian Church, 1595 Draco Road, Lenoir, NC on May 29, 2017 at 11:00.The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30 to 11:00 Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.evansfuneralservice.com.
