Melissa “Lisa” Barnes Absher

November 16, 1956 – October 30, 2025

Melissa Barnes Absher, lovingly known as Lisa, of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on October 30, 2025, at the age of 68.

Lisa was born on November 16, 1956, to the late Evelyn Barnes and Darius Vernon Barnes. She was preceded in death by her parents, whom she cherished deeply.

She is survived by her two children, Megan Williams (Kellen), and Cody Deal, and her three beloved grandchildren, Landen, Kendall, and Knoxton — who were the light of her life. Also left to cherish her memory are Clyde Winkler, her partner for many years, and Jerry Deal, the father of her children.

Lisa had a free spirit and a gypsy soul, always guided by her love of music and the people she held close. Her laughter, warmth, and kindness touched everyone she met. She will be remembered for her adventurous heart, her love for her family, and the joy she found in life’s simple moments.

A celebration of Melissa’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Pastor Chad Baldwin officiating.
