Michael Richard Warren

Michael Richard Warren, age 66, of Lenoir, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. Born on September 21, 1958, in North Carolina, Michael was a beloved son of Mrs. Doris Warren and the late Douglas Richard Warren.

In addition to his father, Michael is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Banner and Ruth Sanders, his paternal grandparents, Gwyn and Lena Warren, and numerous uncles and an aunt.

Michael's memory is cherished by his devoted wife, Lori, his loving mother, Doris Warren, and his dear brother-in-law, Kevin (Malinda) Pennington. Michael was a proud uncle to nephews Liam (Jessie) Pennington and Nathaniel Pennington and shared a close bond with his cousin Matthew Sanders, who was like a brother to him. He is also remembered fondly by numerous other cousins and his many furry companions: Gracie, Sammy, Tigger, Jinxy, and Puddin’.

A faithful member of Living Hope Church, Michael enjoyed serving the Lord and found joy in his church community. An avid athlete, he excelled in baseball, basketball, and football during his time at Lenoir High School. With a remarkable background in baseball, he pitched from little league to college and later as a minor league pitcher for the San Diego Padres. He was also recognized as the league’s Most Valuable Pitcher while playing for the Furniture Kings in Lenoir. After retiring from professional pitching, he passionately coached Little League in Caldwell County for many years.

Michael found joy in cooking and cherished preparing big holiday meals for his family and friends. His culinary talents and warm gatherings will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A service celebrating a life well lived in devotion, love, and cherished companionship will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Living Hope Church. Pastor Keith Gilliam and Pastor Gray Williams will be officiating the service. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM for visitation. Following the service, Michael will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir.

Serving as pallbearers are David Buchanan, Liam Pennington, Nathaniel Pennington, Cody Sanders, Matthew Sanders, and Chris Warren.

Michael's life, marked by love, sportsmanship, and service, touched many.
