Mr. Mickey Dean Penley, age 65, of Lenoir passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at his home. Born March 15, 1952 in Caldwell County, Mickey was a son of the late Louie and Gertrude Barrier Penley.Mickey was a RA leader, baseball coach, and member of the Kings Creek Fire Department. He was an avid member of Pisgah Baptist Church.The thing he enjoyed most in life was spending time with his grandchildren, they were the light of his life.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother Mikey Penley. Survivors include his wife of almost 43 years, Barbara McCrary Penley of the Home; sons, Micheal Penley of Lenoir and Todd Penley (wife Erin) of Mocksville; three sisters, Lona Bristol, Lucille Triplett, and Mary Coffey; four brothers, Larry Penley, Terry Penley, Lloyd Penley and Lowell Gene Penley; his grandchildren, Tanner, Hunter, Bryson, Kodey, Garrett, Macy and Molly; a special brother, Robert McCrary; he is also survived by numerous other relatives. A celebration of Mickey’s life will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Pisgah Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with Pastor Ronnie Miller officiating.Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.Serving as pallbearers will be Mickey’s grandsons in addition to Marty Robbins, Nick Banner and Charlie Hall.
