It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nancy Pennell, who died peacefully at her home in Lenoir, NC, on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the age of 89.
Born on Friday, November 13, 1936, in North Carolina, Nancy was a gentle and nurturing soul devoted to her family and community. A longtime resident of Lenoir, NC, Nancy spent her life as a dedicated mom and homemaker, a role she cherished deeply.
Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Pennell, with whom she shared more than 50 wonderful years. Together, they built a loving family that includes their sons, Joel Pennell and his wife, LaDatha, and Steve Pennell and his wife, Wendy. Nancy's legacy also lives on through her cherished grandchildren, TJ Pennell and his wife, Emily, Alex Pennell, and Allison Pennell, all of whom she adored and took care of with unending love and tenderness.
Her commitment to her faith was evident in her service as a Senior Adult Sunday School Teacher at First Baptist Church of Lenoir. Her insightful lessons and nurturing spirit left a lasting impact on everyone who was blessed to know her. Nancy was also a member of the Eastern Star, Hibriten Order #262.
Nancy will be inurned at the First Baptist Church of Lenoir Columbarium on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 11:00 AM with Dr. Josh Hughes officiating.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff and Amorem and Shaire Center.
