Nettie Mullinax Dellinger

Lenoir – Nettie Mullinax Dellinger, age 90 of Lenoir, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Shaire Nursing Center in Lenoir.Born November 19, 1927 in Pelzer, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late William Clarence and Eunice Moody Mullinax. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Dellinger; a sister, Earlene Jolley and her husband Steele; one brother, Sandy Mullinax; and one sister-in-law, Elizabeth “Lib” Mullinax. She was also preceded in death by an infant son. Mrs. Dellinger was a member of Crestview Baptist Church and was retired from the Caldwell County Schools as a child nutrition assistant.Following her retirement from the Caldwell County Schools, she worked as a senior companion to residents of Koinonia in Lenoir and also served as Vice-President of the Shaire Center Advisory Council. Survivors include her son, Jack Hoke, and wife Joan of Hickory; her granddaughter, Lauren Braden and husband Wes of Chicago and their daughter, Emma; two brothers, Jack Mullinax of Stallings and Gerald Mullinax of South Daytona Beach; two sisters, Wilma Selfridge and husband Hartley of Asheville, and Mary Baker and husband Ervin of Mint Hill; and a sister-in-law, Alma Mullinax of Lenoir.She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 21, at Blue Ridge Memorial Park with Reverend Michael Isaacs officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Jolley, Curt Jolley, Brooks Kirby, Matthew Simmons, Dennis Simmons, and Timothy Simmons. The family wishes to express their appreciation to all staff members from Shaire Nursing Center and Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care who cared for Nettie, along with a special “thank you” to Barbara Watson and Janet Simmons for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shaire Nursing Center Activities Fund, PO Box 668, Hudson, NC28638, to support the games and activities that she and the other residents enjoyed so much.
