**In Loving Memory of Nicole Renee Clenney Slye**
September 11, 1993 – February 28, 2026
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Nicole Renee (Clenney) Slye, a cherished wife, mother, daughter, sister, daughter‑in‑law, sister‑in‑law, and loyal friend. Nicole passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Born on September 11, 1993, in New London, Connecticut, Nicole was raised in a proud military family and lived in many parts of the country, including Florida, Virginia, California, and Hawaii. Her curiosity, resilience, and compassion for others were shaped by these early experiences.
Nicole graduated from James Madison University in 2014 with a B.S. in Biotechnology, later earning her Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of South Florida in 2017. She went on to serve as a Principal Biostatistician at the University of North Carolina where she was respected for her dedication, intellect, and integrity.
A former high‑school cross‑country runner, Nicole found joy in hiking, traveling, and expressing her artistic talents through drawing and sketching. In recent years, nothing brought her more fulfillment than the time she spent raising her beloved daughter, Fiona—moments she treasured above all else.
Nicole is lovingly remembered by her husband, John E. “Jack” Slye; her daughter, Fiona; her parents, Dr. Timothy and Cindy Clenney; her brother, Matthew Clenney; and her husband’s family, John and Donna Slye, along with sisters‑in‑law Kaitlin Slye Cerny (Mark) and Alexa Slye.
Family and friends are invited to honor Nicole’s life on Saturday, March 7, at First Baptist Church of Lenoir, NC. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by a service at 2:00 PM officiated by Senior Pastor Dr. Joshua Hughes. A burial will take place immediately afterward at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
Nicole’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she adored, and the love she shared so generously. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
May Nicole rest in eternal peace.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations made in Nicole’s honor to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).
