Paul A. Hightower

Mr. Paul Albert Hightower, age 76, of Lenoir, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2013 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir. Born September 20, 1937 in Caldwell County, Paul was a son of the late, Dewey and Lela Brown Hightower. Paul overcame polio as a child and became an accomplished athlete. He enjoyed collecting coins and loved sports, especially Golf. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Lenoir Golf Club for 21 years. Paul worked with the FBI and the Department of Commerce for 35 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde Hightower and Bill Hightower; and one sister, Norma Jean Carter. Survivors include his wife Judie Hightower of the Home; a son and daughter, David Randall Hightower and Patricia Renee Hightower both of Myrtle Beach, SC; three step children, Donald Reed, Jr., wife Holly, David Reed , wife Shawna Stevenson, both of Huntingtown, MD and Betty Reed of Lenoir; four brothers, Jim Hightower, wife Barbara, Ott Hightower, wife Alice, Joe Hightower, wife Florence, and Johnny Hightower all of Lenoir; a grandson, Patrick Hightower; five step grandchildren, Gabriella Reed, Donald Reed III, Max Reed, Joie Reed and Noah Reed; Paul is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A memorial service celebrating Paul’s life will be held on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Delbert Minner officiating.
