Paul Schreiner

January 17, 1950 — July 25, 2017

Paul Schreiner, 67, of Lenoir, NC died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 25 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir. Paul George Schreiner was born to Delores and Ruben Schreiner in Mobridge, South Dakota. Paul grew up in Mobridge and graduated from Mobridge High School. He attended Northern State University and received his degree in Education. After graduating, he moved to Pierre and taught in Stanley County for four years. Paul then worked for the State of South Dakota for more than 30 years. Paul welcomed his beloved daughter Heather Schreiner in November of 1970. He was a very active and loving father. Paul and Jenny married on June 20, 1997. They lived in Pierre until 2016. Upon Paul’s retirement, they moved to Lenoir to enjoy their retirement years in the mountains that they loved. Paul was involved in many activities in the Pierre community. Paul was a football and wrestling coach in Stanley County. He was a football and wrestling official and a softball umpire for more than 30 years. He was honored by the South Dakota High School Activities Association with their highest honor of the Distinguished Service Award. Paul was a teacher, a coach, a mentor, an umpire, a referee and a friend, bust most importantly he was a loving father, husband, son, brother, uncle and Papa to his grandchildren. Paul was a generous man who was loved by many. Those grateful to have shared their lives with Paul include his wife, Jennifer; his mother, Delores A. Ricketts; his sisters, Barbara Mundt, Marie Mahan, Angie (Terry) Schlenker; his brothers, Robert (Francine) Schreiner, Mark Schreiner; many nieces and nephews; his daughter, Heather (Rip) Ray; his stepdaughters and grandchildren, Kindra Doherty and her children Madysen and Elijah, Jana Doherty and her children Nathen, Jaeda and Tyler, Amanda (Paul) Doherty-Karber and their daughter Brynlee; and many close friends. A Memorial Service for Paul will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Lenoir Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Online condolences can be sent to www.evansfuneralservice.com.
