R. Ned Leftwich

Ned Leftwich Lenoir, NC –  R. Ned Leftwich, age 88, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Ned was born in Grayson County, VA on March 15, 1924 to the late Ellis Luther Leftwich and Pearl Schuyler Leftwich. He was married to the late Dolores Crouse Leftwich for 66 years. Ned was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and past president of Lenoir Optimist Club. He was a faithful member of Lower Creek Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school, served on the Deacon Board and served in many other capacities over the years. He was also a vital part of the Caldwell Prison Ministry. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Rudisill and husband, Alan; his son, Kevin and wife, Sharon; granddaughter, Laura Todd May and husband, Casey; grandson, Chris Todd and wife, Erica; sister, Carolyn Leftwich Morrow of Kernersville; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A celebration of Ned’s life will be held at Lower Creek Baptist Church on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 12:30 with Reverend Robert Livingston and Reverend Bert Blackburn officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service and Blue Ridge Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 12:30 prior to the service.
