Lenoir – Mrs. Rachel Pitts Price, age 93, of Lenoir, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Lenoir HealthCare.Born December 24, 1921 in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late Marlon and Jessie Mae Crites Pitts and the wife of the late Fred W. Price Sr. Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Tony Maxwell Price. Mrs. Price was a member of Central Baptist Church where she sang in the choir.She served as choir director in other churches in the area.She was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling. She is survived by a son, Fred W. Price, Jr. and wife Barbara of Lenoir; a daughter, Debbie Pennell and husband Lee of Lenoir; three grandchildren, Jennifer Pennell Mansfield and husband Scott; Jill Price Francis and husband Scott; Lori Lynn Price Crump and husband Tim and nine great-grandchildren, Ryan Mansfield, Laine Mansfield, Andrew Crump, Brendan Crump, Taylore Crump, Josalyn Francis, Noah Francis, Paige Greene and Chloe Greene.She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mrs. Price’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 6, 2015 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend John Jernigan officiating.Musical selections will be provided by Sharon Wilson Walsh.Burial will follow in the First Baptist Church of Whitnel Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM, one hour prior to the service. The family would like to thank the staff of Lenoir HealthCare for the wonderful and loving care given to our mother.
