Mrs. Rayma Lou Kirby Robbins, age 87, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Caldwell Hospice.Mrs. Robbins was born in Caldwell County on April 1, 1930 to the late Harvey Milroy Kirby and Fannie Craig Kirby.She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Robert Curtis Robbins.Rayma Lou graduated from Charlotte Memorial School of Nursing in September of 1951.She loved being a nurse which was so evident in her compassion and quality of care she gave each patient.She worked at Blackwelder Hospital for 13 years and 35 years at Thompson Medical Specialist.Her nursing skills also served her family and community well.She was a faithful servant of the Lord at Crestview Baptist Church where she taught the preschoolers, worked in the nursery, and was an active member of the WMU. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Virginia Robbins. Her adored children are Steven Robbins and wife, Linda; grandson Andrew Coffey and wife, Annie; grandson Christopher Robbins and wife, Suzy; grandson Brian Robbins and wife Lauren; granddaughter Stephanie Thumm and husband, Jeffrey Thumm; son John Robbins and wife, Sharon, granddaughter Amy Smith and husband, Eric; grandson Andrew Robbins and wife, Carrie, daughter Anne Wilcox; grandson Danny Wilcox and partner, Jacquelyn Sharpe; grandson Kyle Wilcox and wife, Cierra.She had 14 great-grandchildren and is also survived by her brother, John Kirby and wife, Eula Mae. A celebration of Mrs. Robbins life will be held at Crestview Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 2:00 PM with Reverend Michael Isaacs officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.Pallbearers will be grandsons, Andrew Coffey, Christopher Robbins, Brian Robbins, Andrew Robbins, Danny Wilcox and Kyle Wilcox.
