Granite Falls –Reverend Raymond “Epaw” Earl Talton, age 87, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 4, 2021 at his residence. He was born in Wayne County, NC on November 16, 1933 to the late Barney and Ada Talton. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bertha Hinson Talton. Reverend Talton rarely met anyone that he didn’t impact their life in a positive manner. He created the first food bank in Caldwell County through his church, The Church of God of Prophecy in Sawmills, which he pastored for many years.He was an active evangelist in the Church of God for North Carolina. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Allen Talton. Other than his wife, he is survived by Bobby Talton and wife, Theresa; Annette Pearson and husband, James; and Renee Talton; grandchildren, Robert Talton; Anthony Talton; Melody, Daniel and Darren Daves; Jeff Pearson; Kristy, Anissa and Kaylee Beth; numerous great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 3:00 until 4:00 PM. A graveside service celebrating Reverend Talton’s life will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Park immediately following the visitation with Pastor Joey Williford and Pastor Benny Greene officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Navy and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
