Richard Lee Bowser, age 83, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 26, 2026. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Rich was known for his kindness, dedication, and unwavering work ethic. Born on December 5, 1942, in Rockland, Massachusetts, he was the beloved son of the late Kenneth Bowser and Lillian Davis Bowser.

Rich shared a remarkable 60-year marriage with his cherished wife, Carol Catyb Bowser. Together, they built a life filled with love and adventure, moving from Massachusetts to Florida before settling in Hudson, North Carolina, where they embraced their roles as "halfbacks."

A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Rich served honorably during the Vietnam War and spent time stationed in the Philippines, Korea, with most of his military career served in Japan. Upon returning home, he dedicated himself to his craft, beginning his career as a machinist apprentice at the Quincy Shipyard. Rich's passion and skill led him to become a first-class machinist and eventually a highly regarded tool and die maker. Over a distinguished 50-year career, he ran his own shop and worked with leading companies, leaving an indelible mark on those he worked with. In his later years, he returned to school to become a certified vocational instructor, sharing his knowledge and expertise with future generations.

In addition to his parents, Rich was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Bowser, nephew Little Kenny Bowser, and niece Debbie Riley. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol; daughter Ann Marie Wilkinson and her husband, Jeffrey; son Michael Bowser and his wife, Aubrey; sister Nancy Bowser Thomas and her husband, John; sister-in-law Barbara Bowser; and grandchildren Julianne Wilkinson, Clara, and Adrian Bowser. He is also fondly remembered by many other family members and friends.

A celebration of Rich’s life will be held at First Baptist Church of Hudson on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 3:00 PM, with Pastor Mack Jarvis officiating. Family and friends are welcome to gather for a visitation from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM, prior to the service.
