Richard Dale Kincaid, age 81, of Lenoir, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025. A man of few words but a vibrant, fun-loving spirit, Richard lived a life defined by hard work, a love for the outdoors, and a deep devotion to his family.
Born on July 10, 1944, Richard was the son of the late George Huitt Kincaid and Maude McCreary Kincaid. He was a graduate of Gamewell-Collettsville High School. Before finding his true calling, Richard explored several paths, working in carpentry, truck driving, and even as a convenience store owner. He eventually established a lifelong career with the U.S. Forest Service, where he dedicated 35 years of service before his retirement.
Richard was happiest when he was outside. Whether he was meticulously tending to his yard and garden or out in the woods and on the water, he found peace in nature. An avid hunter and fisherman, he cherished the many hunting and fishing trips he took over the years with his son, grandsons, and close friends. Though he was often quiet, he had a unique ability to liven up any gathering with his personality and warmth.
Richard is reunited in heaven with his parents and his seven brothers and sisters: Charles Edward, Howard, Ralph, Tim, Judith, Mary Katherine, and Drucilla.
His legacy lives on through his devoted wife of 60 years, Evelyn Williams Kincaid; his son, Mikeal Kincaid and wife Cyndi; and his daughter, Jill Pippen and husband Eddie. He was the proud "Paw" to six grandchildren: Erin Phipps, Addy Schroder, Chase Pippen, and Corbin Pippen, Cody Beane, and Kaitlin Beane; and three great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy.
A celebration of life and graveside rites will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Littlejohns United Methodist Church, with Preacher Raymond Spann officiating. Pallbearers will be Gary Greer, Denise Helton, David McFee, Rocky Bryant, Chase Pippen, and Corbin Pippen.
While Richard’s passing makes earth poor, heaven is certainly richer today. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Richard’s memory to Grandview Baptist Church in Lenoir.
