In Loving Memory of Ricky Jason Nichols
With heavy hearts, we announce that Ricky Jason Nichols, age 49, of Lenoir, NC, passed away on May 18, 2025.
Ricky was a jack of all trades—skilled in roofing, carpentry, horticulture, and electrical work. But more than anything, he was known for his quick wit, sharp sense of humor, and the way he could light up a room with laughter. Ricky had a unique ability to find humor in everyday life, and he never missed a chance to make someone smile. His jokes, storytelling, and playful spirit created joy in the lives of everyone who knew him.
Ricky was born on December 26, 1975, to the late Cleamith McKeever Nichols and Audrey Jean Ellis.
The challenges Ricky faced in life do not define him, but they are a part of the story we honor today. He met those challenges with resilience, humor, and heart. His ability to lift others—even while facing his own struggles—was a true testament to his character. His presence was a gift, and his absence is deeply felt by all who loved him. He is survived by his four sons: Kristian Nichols, Kristopher Nichols (Emily), Kodie Nichols (Elisabeth), and Ricky Jason Nichols II; six grandchildren: Kaleb, Ben, Kristy, Mason, Molly, and Blaire; two brothers: Nathan Nichols and Dustin Burns; two sisters: Tracie Day (David) and Sandra Farthing; and many beloved nieces and nephews who will always remember his big heart and even bigger sense of humor.
A celebration of Ricky’s life will take place on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Miracle Church, with Pastor David Day officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at Miracle Church, 211 N Fairview St., Lenoir, NC 28645, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
